Thankful
I know it tends to be a lot of gloom and doom over here at Boztopia.com, and I feel acutely guilty at having so much to be thankful for at a time when so many others suffer, but that’s a motivator–I want everyone to enjoy the same wonders and blessings that I have. It’s why I do what I do.
So here’s a list of things I am thankful this Thanksgiving Day. I hope you take inspiration from this and offer your own thanks for all the good things you have in your life. At times of chaos and craziness, it pays to take stock of all that you have, and to appreciate all that there is in the world that’s good.
I’m thankful that my mother has undergone not one, but two major surgeries this year and come out better each time. My mother is an immense source of strength and inspiration for me, and I am grateful for every moment I have to spend with her. Mom, you mean the world to me, and I love you.
I’m thankful for my wonderful sister, who has been by my side and a great comrade, colleague, and business partner through times tough and joyous alike. She has been through hell and come out someone I’m proud to know and love. Leah, I love you, and tell Daniel, James, his family, Tyson, Seamus, and Swiss Cheese (plus any surviving fish) that I love them too.
I’m thankful to have the perfect job that gives me a chance to do something meaningful and useful in the world, and pays me well enough that I don’t have to starve for the sake of living up to my ideals. I’ve got a very sweet deal, and I’ll never forget that for a minute.
I’m thankful that we made history by electing not only the first black President, but a man who will, I am certain, lead us out of the darkness into a better, brighter future. Willing though I am to criticize and guard against policies of his that could be dangerous, I have the faith that Obama will deliver on his promise, and not only turn America around, but make it better than it’s ever been. (For a good list of more political developments I’m thankful for, my buds at The Seminal have it covered.)
I’m thankful for every one of you. All of my friends, near and far, around the world, some who read my blog, some who I have known for over a decade. You inspire me and give me the motivation to keep on doing what I do. I love all of you, and I’m eternally grateful that you keep coming around to my little corner of the blogosphere to hear me rant and rave.
Happy Thanksgiving.
